Marine TREES
Client: Marine TREES (launching soon)
Role: Creative direction, graphic design, illustration, branding
Overview
Marine TREES (tree reef ecological engineering structures) aims to place trees on the ocean floor to use as reefs for shellfish, creating habitat for fish and other sea creatures. These trees degrade in time, forming natural reefs. In many parts of Europe, trees have been wiped out due to human infrastructure and as a result, driftwood (and natural driftwood reefs) have become sparse.
Outcome
A versatile brandmark combines together the essence of Marine TREES: an interconnected tree branch; the silhouette of a fish between the branches; blues and greens representing the ocean; and all contained within a shellfish icon. Accompanied by a classic serif font, the brand gives a nod to ‘the way nature used to be’, paired alongside a bold sans serif font reflective of a modern approach. This flexible logo design can be used horizontally and vertically, with and without a tagline, and the brandmark is also available as a stand along graphic element. A rich, ocean-inspired palette is rounded out with a complementary secondary palette to allow for multiple colour combinations that meet international accessibility standards.
Trina took our jumble of ideas and transformed them into a beautiful, professional logo and brand that represents our vision. She listened carefully, providing insightful suggestions to guide us through the process of design.
