Design process

As a designer, I am here to lead you through the creative process with clarity. Together, we will create a strategic approach built on mutual trust and respect – resulting in wildly successful creative work.

  • You share your creative challenges and design needs via email and we connect.

  • We have a brief call to discuss your needs and confirm our alignment. I send over a proposal and estimate, you sign-off, and we schedule a discovery call to dive deeper into strategy, goals and more.

  • The creative process begins with research and ideation. You receive initial design concept(s) and have the opportunity for 2–3 rounds of feedback and revisions.

  • Final file(s) are delivered along with the opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and offer feedback.

Are you committed to doing things differently? Let’s chat.

  • Core services include logo design and branding, illustration and infographic design, print and publication design (like annual reports, brochures, and document design), environmental and signage design, illustrated maps, and murals. Looking for something further? I’d love to see how I can help.

  • Trina M'Lot is the founder and lead designer behind Blue Yonder Creative. Working Together

  • Blue Yonder Creative is based in Pender Harbour (ḵalpilin) on the Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada, collaborating remotely with clients across British Columbia, Canada, and Internationally.

  • Every project begins with discovery to understand your goals, vision, audience, and specific project needs. You will receive a project timeline outlining key dates for your feedback and participation, helping ensure we stay on track to meet our deadline.

Next, I move into research and concept development, presenting initial design concept(s) for your review. The opportunity for feedback and revisions are always included. Upon project completion, you’ll receive final files and we celebrate!

  • Timelines vary depending on the scope and complexity of each project. A logo and branding package typically takes 4–8 weeks from project kick-off, while a larger publication or signage project may take longer. We will touch base on timelines in our initial call, and you will receive a detailed project timeline to keep us on track.

A few tips that are helpful in keeping a project timeline on track:

    • Do you have time in your schedule to support the design process? Your involvement will be needed throughout our project. Keeping time available in your schedule for initial meeting(s), feedback, and review is helpful.

    • Are there multiple stakeholders involved in the project? We will connect about who needs to give sign-off and at what stage of the project to keep things rolling efficiently.

    • Is your content finalized, or still undergoing reviews? Ideally, final (or near-final) content is received before moving into design.

    • Are you creative assets ready? Do you have photos, illustrations, logos, or diagrams that are still in the works? I’m happy to support with creative asset creation and photo sourcing as needed, however we do need to schedule extra time for this.

  • I typically work with clients in one of three ways:

    • Quoted per project

    • Ongoing hourly contract

    • Monthly retainer, starting at 15 hours per month

Setting up an ongoing hourly contract or monthly retainer is a great way to collaborate for ongoing design support. I can get to know your brand on a long-term basis, further extending your depth and reach. Your team benefits from the efficiency and familiarity of a regular designer. It’s a win-win scenario! Reach out for more details.

  • Pricing is customized to reflect the specific needs of your project. The studio’s minimum project engagement is $1,000 CAD, and logo/brand design starts at $2,200 CAD.

  • I’d love to hear from you! Please use the form on the Contact page to reach out and share your project details. From there, we can have an Intro Call to touch base on your project needs, and if we are a good fit, I will provide a proposal and estimate for your review.
