Ocean Wise Humpback Whale Feeding Icons | Icon Design

Client:‍ ‍Ocean Wise

Role: Illustration, graphic design

Deliverables: A series of five illustrated icons

Overview

Ocean Wise is a global conservation organization building communities that take meaningful action to protect our ocean. Their research team was seeking a series of illustrated icons to identify the methods of humpback feeding within graphs and tables for publication in scientific journals.

Outcome

A series of five icon designs illustrating the various methods that humpback whales use for feeding: bubble-net feeding, lunge feeding, flick feeding, skim feeding, and deep feeding. The icons were designed first as simple, one-colour variations for small-scale use within tables and graphs, and then developed into full-colour variations for social media use.
